Technical

1. What do I need to use a FLEX intranet?

You don’t need to buy any new technology to make the most of your FLEX Intranet. You simply need SharePoint 2013 Standard Edition if you are running SharePoint on-premises. If you want to run the FLEX Intranet on Office 365 you need a licence for one of the following: SharePoint Online Plan 1, Plan 2 or an Office 365 E1, E3 or E5 plan.

2. Can I still integrate Yammer and other Microsoft technologies if my installation is on-premises?

Yes, if you have on-premises or an Office 365 version of SharePoint, FLEX can integrate Yammer and other Microsoft technologies such as Skype for Business.

3. I don’t currently have SharePoint or Office 365 – can the FLEX team help?

Absolutely! If you would like advice on which version of SharePoint to implement and the benefits of an Office 365 implementation, we can still help. We can deliver either an on-premises implementation of SharePoint or Office 365, configured to meet your needs. For more information, please feel free to contact us here.

4. How secure is my data on Office 365?

Here at FLEX we view data security as a key priority. Microsoft goes to great lengths to ensure that their customers’ data is as secure as possible – in fact, Office 365 is widely recognised as one of the safest platforms in this regard. In order to further improve data security, Microsoft has recently announced a UK-based datacentre for their British customers. 5. Does FLEX integrate with Active Directory (AD)?

In order to make your Microsoft products as easy to use as possible, FLEX uses Single Sign-On (SSO) for use authentication. FLEX also uses this data to populate the People Directory feature of FLEX, enabling quick and easy domain management & user discoverability.

6. Can I make my FLEX intranet visible externally?

7. Can I integrate FLEX with my existing systems?

Yes – FLEX can be extended to interact with your existing systems, whether they are on premises or Cloud based solutions.

8. Will FLEX work with third-party backup solutions from companies such as Metalogix or AvePoint?

Yes – FLEX does not affect SharePoint in any way that will prevent you from using industry-standard backup tools that are compatible with SharePoint.

10. Is there a set-up fee?

Yes, there is a small set up fee at the start of the engagement, following standard industry practice.

11. Do you give discounts to non-profit organisations?

12. How long is a standard FLEX subscription term for Office 365 deployments?

A standard FLEX subscription on Office 365 ranges between 2-5 years, depending on your requirements and how you currently licence your Microsoft products.

13. Will FLEX work with my smartphone?

Absolutely – FLEX is designed to work as a mobile-first solution and works seamlessly with iPhone, Android and Windows smartphones.

14. Can the FLEX team support the additional tailored requirements of my business?

Definitely! Here at FLEX we have an expert team which is on hand to support you throughout the entire engagement.

15. Can I develop my own Apps for FLEX?

FLEX Apps can be developed using standard Microsoft development tools. We offer our clients training in doing so in order that the developers can start creating dedicated FLEX Apps.

16. Can I use third-party SharePoint Apps and components?

Yes – FLEX does not break or affect SharePoint in any way that would prevent our clients deploying other Apps or components.

17. What special tools do I need to extend FLEX?

None. FLEX can be developed and extended using standard Microsoft tools.

18. What happens if we decide FLEX isn’t suitable for our business any longer?

All of your content in SharePoint Online or on-premises is safely stored and managed in these products, and is fully accessible should you decide to remove the FLEX product.
